What to Do in Paris That's Really Different?

The Paris Catacombs

You may be surprised to know that when you visit Avenue du Colonel Henri Rol-Tanguy, you are near the entrance to the underground city of the Paris Catacombs. This amazing network stretches for over 300 km beneath the Parisian streets. Over 2 km of the underground labyrinth are an enormous cemetery. Eightieth-century Parisians found that their cemeteries were becoming overfilled. To solve this problem, they exhumed over 6 million bodies, and transferred them to the underground catacombs.

Once closed to the public, local authorities refurbished the underground city during 2005, giving you the opportunity to see a unique viewpoint of Paris that millions move unknowingly move over every day.

There is a very small fee for adults to enter, but admission is free for children. The catacombs are closed on Monday, and bank holidays, so please plan you visit accordingly.

Visit Brady Passage, Known as Little India

While many European cities host a 'Little China' district, Paris is one of few that can boast a Little India.

At just 220 meters long, this is often regarded as the longest enclosed street throughout the entire city.

Reaching the location by bus or Metro line at Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Martin, you quickly move into a street that looks, and feels, like India. The exotic smell of spices mixes with the animated colours of Indian fashion: it is truly a treat for the senses!

You will be just steps away from a wide range of spice shops will have access to many delicious, yet inexpensive, Indian restaurant.
